Ecommerce operations guide

An unboxing that feels like your brand. A process your team can repeat.

To launch branded packaging or customization, agree the materials, artwork, approved sample, order instructions and exception rules before production. FHU offers scoped packaging and customization work, including embroidery and direct-to-garment printing. Confirm the capable facility, product suitability, turnaround and charges for your project. Keep packaging assembly, garment modification and carrier preparation distinct so the team can quote and repeat the intended process.

Decision support

Which packaging and customization details need approval?

Use the same definitions and evidence across every option. A comparison is not reliable when one path uses best-case assumptions and another uses observed operating data.

Execution

How do you launch a repeatable branded-packaging workflow?

Move to the next step only when the evidence and owner for the current step are clear.

  1. 01

    Separate packaging from product work

A branded carton, insert or kit is different from changing the garment itself. List each operation independently so materials, labor, quality checks and charges can be scoped accurately.

  2. 02

    Approve a repeatable sample

Provide artwork rights, placement, colors, material details and any size variations. Agree a sample and acceptance criteria before authorizing production quantities. Record what would require another approval.

  3. 03

    Confirm the operating location

Verify the actual facility and supported process for the selected product. Do not ship customization stock until equipment or service availability, handoffs and turnaround are agreed.

  4. 04

    Test the order instructions

Use representative orders with different options. Confirm that artwork references, personalization data and packaging rules reach the correct operator, and that missing instructions hold the order for review.

  5. 05

    Plan materials and returns

Set reorder ownership for cartons, inserts and other consumables. Decide how defective or personalized goods are handled on return. Review packaged dimensions when estimating shipping costs rather than relying on product size alone.

Planning questions

What should you confirm before custom packaging goes live?

Turn the approved look into instructions that receiving, production and packing teams can follow.

  1. 01

Are embroidery and direct-to-garment printing available at every FHU warehouse?

Do not assume every facility supports every process. Confirm the operating location, product suitability, sample, capacity, turnaround and fees with FHU before sending stock or committing a customer deadline.

  2. 02

What is needed to approve a branded-packaging project?

Provide material specifications, artwork rights, dimensions, quantities and order-selection rules. Agree an approval sample, acceptance criteria, replenishment ownership and the response to shortages or rejected work. Specify each operation so the quote covers the intended work.

  3. 03

What happens to product labels during customization?

Check applicable fiber-content, country-of-origin, business-identity and care-label requirements before altering garments. Agree label handling with the responsible party; an approved visual sample alone does not establish labeling compliance.

  4. 04

Does branded packaging change the fulfillment cost?

It can change materials, storage, assembly, quality checks and packed dimensions. Compare the complete approved workflow, including consumables, additional labor and carrier charges. Service availability does not mean every activity is included in a base pick fee.

Boundaries

Before you start

  • Embroidery, printing, kitting and premium packaging are separately scoped services; availability is not an inclusion or unlimited-capacity promise.
  • Product suitability, artwork, minimums, samples, turnaround and fees require project-specific confirmation.
  • No service or packaging choice guarantees a particular customer response, return rate or carrier delivery outcome.
